Brighton accepting donations for Memorial Tree Program

Do you want to acknowledge the loss of a loved one, birth of a child, or celebrate a personal achievement or milestone by having your very own tree planted in Brighton ? Brighton’s Memorial Tree Program enables Brighton citizens to donate a tree to the City to be planted in any park or trail that the Brighton Parks Department maintains.

The donator will be able to choose from a list of approved tree species. Most trees will cost the donator approximately $150. The City Forester will aid the donator in the proper placement and selection of trees and the Parks Department will plant and maintain all donated trees.

“This is a great way to recognize or remember a loved one while helping the environment and improving the look of the City,” said City Forester Kyle Sylvester.

Plaques and signage are not allowed to be placed next to the memorial trees, however, a new exhibit will soon be placed at the new City Hall which will feature the memorial designee, tree species planted, location of the tree and date of planting.

If you are interested in donating a tree or if you have had a memorial tree planted in the past and would like your information included at the new City Hall exhibit, please contact City Forester Kyle Sylvester at 303-655-2089.
