Adams County Request for Review of Alleged Ethics Violation Dismissed

On May 9, 2011, the Adams County Board of Commissioners requested the Colorado Independent Ethics Commission initiate an investigation of Gil Reyes, County Assessor, stemming from the Denver Post allegations that he accepted Colorado Rockies and Avalanche tickets as well as lunch invitations from Randall Hertel, senior vice president of Majestic Realty Company.

Colorado Constitution Article XXIX, Section 3 prohibits local government officials from accepting gifts or other items of value exceeding $53 in any calendar year.

In a letter dated Aug. 29, 2011, the Board of County Commissioners received notice from Jane T. Feldman, executive director of the Colorado Independent Ethics Commission, stating the request was dismissed pursuant to IEC Rule 7.G.3. because the complaint alleges conduct that occurred more than 12 months prior to the filing of the complaint.
