Commerce City: Keep sidewalks, walkways clear for all to use

Please remember you are all responsible to keep the sidewalks around your properties, safe for ourselves and others to use. Commerce City Municipal Code 6-2013 states that the owner or occupant of any building, property or lot is responsible to keep the sidewalks free from hazards, obstructions, snow and ice

Walkways and sidewalks must be kept "in a clean and repaired condition and free of hazards and obstructions, including, but not limited to, tree limbs, trash containers and sports equipment."

Walkways and sidewalks also must be free from snow and ice "within 24 hours from the last accumulation of such snow, sleet, hail or ice." You cannot "deposit, or cause to be deposited, any snow, sleet, hail or ice against any fire hydrant, official traffic control device or other appurtenance, or onto any public or private property . . ." without the express consent of the owner or occupant of a property.

Failure to maintain a safe sidewalk or right-of-way will result in a Notice of Violation from Commerce City's Neighborhood Services Division, and failure to comply with the Notice of Violation could result in a $100 fine.
