South Adams County Water and Sanitation District 2011 Proposed Capital Projects

• A 30” interceptor sewer will replace an existing under-sized and deteriorating 18” concrete interceptor sewer in E. 104th Ave. as part as part of the larger E. 104th Avenue Roadway Improvements project being performed by the City of Commerce
City.

• South Adams will be making water and sewer systems improvements along Monaco St. between 60th and 72nd Avenues in conjunction with Commerce City’s resurfacing project.

• Additional replacement of water lines is planned for Adams City as number of main breaks have occurred due to the reaction of the old cast iron pipe material and the corrosive soil.

• Adams County is reconstructing new streets in the Dupont area, which includes Leyden Street, Krameria Street, Krameria Drive, and Kearney Street, generally between 72nd and 74th Avenues. South Adams will install approximately 4,500 linear feet of water lines (that are now over 55 years old), eleven new fire
hydrants, and 63 service lines will be replaced pending available
funding in 2011.

• In order to rehab a 30” sewer line, South Adams has determined that an existing drainage culvert can be used for a temporary bypass line installation. The advantage of this option is it eliminates the need to place a temporary bore under I-76 for the by-pass pumping.

• South Adams will install a new sewer press at the wastewater treatment plant. This device reduces the amount of water in South Adams’ sludge and will significantly reduce the amount of sludge that needs to be hauled away each year.
