“The Government Center will be a great community asset to the citizens and employees of our county,” said Commissioner Alice J. Nichol. “I am excited to begin the transition into the new building where taxpayers and employees will be able to conduct county business without traveling to numerous locations.”
The Adams County Government Center was designed to be both highly sustainable and eco-friendly, using natural light, fresh air ventilation and solar panels for heating.
“Throughout the planning and construction phases of this project, our goal has been to create a center that benefits the community in terms of convenient access, reduced operating costs and conservation of county resources,” said Commissioner W. R. “Skip” Fischer. “I am confident we accomplished this and built a Government Center Adams County can be proud of for the next 100 years.”
Funding for the Government Center was made possible by Adams County voters who extended a county sales tax in 2006. The one-half of one percent sales tax was extended for 20 years to fund critical transportation projects, the new Government Center, the Justice Center expansion and a pre-trial holding facility.
“We have worked hard to make county voters proud of their investment,” said Commissioner Larry W. Pace. “The Government Center is a tribute to Adams County, incorporating the county’s past agricultural heritage with state-of-the-art design and functionality. It is sure to be a community resource we can all be proud of.”
Phone numbers for offices and employees moving into the new Government Center are changing to a “720.523” format. Alongside this change, Adams County is simplifying both its web and email address formats. Adams County’s website can now be accessed at www.adcogov.org. Email addresses that previously ended in “@co.adams.co.us” will now end with “@adcogov.org”.
