Stormwater Program puts message on the street about water quality

This summer, 25 storm manhole lids in downtown Brighton have been replaced by new lids with a permanently imprinted image of a fish and an educational message that says, “No Dumping! Drains to River.”
The new legend was created to increase public awareness about the direct link between stormwater runoff and natural waterways. It will also help alert residents that everything entering the storm sewer will end up in the river, polluting our waters and affecting the aquatic environment.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities near a storm drain to the city of Brighton’s Stormwater Division at 303-655-2121.
