DENVER, August 10 — The Metro Wastewater Reclamation District has won two national awards from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies. The awards were presented on July 20 at the association’s summer conference in San Francisco .The first was the Operations and Environmental Performance Award, South Platte River Segment 15 - Aquatic Life and Habitat Assessment. It recognizes the District’s work over the past several years to improve the aquatic habitat of the South Platte River .
The District worked with the Water Quality Control Division of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Colorado Division of Wildlife, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to complete the project.
The other award is the Public Information and Education Award - Printed Publication category. It recognizes A 45-Year History (the Metro District’s history book), a historical exhibit in the Administration Building lobby, and the celebrations that introduced the book and exhibit to board members and employees
Additional awards have also acknowledged the District’s history book. These include a Silver Pick Award from the Colorado Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and two Platinum Hermes Creative Awards from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.
