The City of Brighton has been awarded with a 2011 Starburst Community Award by the Colorado Lottery for its use of Lottery dollars to complete the Brighton Oasis Family Aquatic Park . The city was able to use a Lottery-funded Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) grant of $500,000 to help build the aquatic park.
The City broke ground on the $5.9 million aquatic park last December, which replaced the 50-year-old outdoor pool at Benedict Park. The park features a lazy river with wave generator, tot pool with play feature, two water slides and a water basketball area. In addition, the park features a full concession stand as well as lockers and a pavilion for birthday parties and rentals.
Located at 1852 Bromley Lane , the Brighton Oasis officially opened its doors June 10, bringing in more than 13,000 visitors during its first month open.
The Colorado Lottery Starburst Community Awards recognize excellence in the use of Lottery proceeds in community projected implemented to enhance a community’s environment. To read more about the 2011 winners, visit www.coloradolottery.com/GIVING-BACK/AWARD-WINNERS.
