The investigation by City of Brighton detectives determined the report was a hoax and Haigh took the deposits herself and gave them to an accomplice.
As a result of the on-going investigation, it was suspected a second city employee in the city utilities department had taken city funds.
This afternoon, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 35-year-old Quentin Rivera, a city employee since October 2007. Charges of Theft and Embezzlement, a felony for involving public funds, were accepted by the District Attorney’s office.
Rivera is in custody and will be taken to the Adams County Detention Center; his bail is set at $2,500.
On Wednesday, the District Attorney filed charges of Theft, Embezzlement and False Reporting against Haigh. Haigh remains in-custody; her bail was set at $5,000.
The City of Brighton continues to audit receipts from the past week to insure all payments made to the city were properly credited to customers and residents.
