The new apparatus is a 4 wheel drive pumper that will be placed at Station 54 in Great Rock. The pumper carries 1000 gallons of water and equipment for fires, car accidents, water rescue, and many other situations. The total vehicle cost was $499,000.
It is expected that this pumper will serve the District for the next 15 to 20 years.
A wetting ceremony was held on December 8 at the District Board of Directors Meeting at Station 52 on Bridge St. The wetting ceremony is a type of initiation process that the District does with all new apparatus before it’s put into service.
