Gov.-elect Hickenlooper announces first hires for Governor’s Office

DENVER ­— Gov.-elect John Hickenlooper announced today Roxane White will be his Chief of Staff and Eric Brown will be Director of Communications.

“I said from the beginning that our success will be a reflection on our ability to attract talent,” Hickenlooper said. “Roxane and Eric are two of the most talented people I know, and I am delighted they are coming to work at the state.”

White is now the Chief of Staff for Hickenlooper at the City of Denver. She will leave the City on or about Dec. 9. White joined the City in her current roll in September 2009. She previously worked for the Mayor as the Manager of the Department of Human Services from 2003-2008. In the interim, she served as the Executive Director of the Timothy and Bernadette Marquez Foundation.

Before joining the City, White spent 16 years developing programs to serve the needs of people who are homeless in Denver, Colorado Springs and San Francisco. She previously worked as President and CEO of Urban Peak, Urban Peak Colorado Springs, Urban Peak Housing Corporation and The Spot. She created and chaired Denver’s Road Home, Denver’s 10-year plan to end homelessness. White earned a bachelor’s degree from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore., and master’s degrees in social work and divinity from San Francisco State University and San Francisco Theological Seminary.

Brown is now Director of Communications for Hickenlooper at the City of Denver. He will leave the City on Friday. Brown joined the Mayor’s Office in April 2009 after 15 years in the newspaper business. He worked for nine years at the Rocky Mountain News and was the city editor when the newspaper closed on Feb. 27, 2009. He worked at the Greeley Tribune, the Corpus Christi (Texas) Caller-Times and Abilene (Texas) Reporter-News. Brown earned a journalism degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
