E-470 Board Honors Five with “Driving Force Award”

The E-470 Public Highway Authority board of directors recently presented its Driving Force Award to five individuals who have contributed to the E-470 tollway’s successes. They are former Brighton mayor Jan Pawlowski, snow removal contractor Dave Pickrell of T-P Enterprises, former Weld County commissioner Glenn Vaad, state senator Suzanne Williams, and Douglas County commissioner Melanie Worley.
The awards have been presented for more than 20 years. Previous award winners include former Colorado governors, state, local and federally-elected officials, consultants and other contractors.

Jan Pawlowski served on the E-470 board from 2002 to 2009, serving as the chair before leaving the board. She now serves as the president of the E-470 Transportation Safety Foundation.

T-P Enterprises, Dave Pickrell’s company, has had E-470’s snow removal contract since late 2003. Dave was acknowledged by the board for his “hands-on” involvement in keeping E-470’s roads clear and safe during snowstorms.

Glenn Vaad served as the Weld County representative on the E-470 Board of Directors from 2001 to 2006 while he was a Weld County commissioner. He is now a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from the 48th District.

The vice-chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, Senator Suzanne Williams, has been instrumental in supporting legislation concerning transportation issues in the state. During the awards presentation, John McCuskey, E-470’s executive director, noted that Williams “has been a great ally for E-470 at the state legislature.”

Melanie Worley served as the Douglas County representative on the E-470 board from 2007 to 2008. She had been a Douglas County Commissioner since January 1999, before which she served on the Douglas County Planning Commission.

E-470 is a tollway that runs along the eastern perimeter of the Denver metropolitan area. The 70-mph highway extends 47 miles from State Highway C-470 at I-25 in Douglas County, ending at I-25 just south of 160th Ave., in Thornton.
