RTD holding sixteen public meetings in September
Denver – The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will hold a series of public hearings in September to discuss a fare increase proposed for January 2011. Proposed increases include a 25 cent increase in regular cash fare for local fares, 50 cents for Express and Regional cash fares and $1 for skyRide cash fares. There would be corresponding increases in all tickets and passes. Like other transit agencies, RTD has experienced a dramatic drop in sales tax revenue, which is the main source of funding for the agency’s bus, light rail and paratransit services. Public input will be summarized and reported to the RTD Board of Directors prior to their vote on the proposed fare changes, scheduled for late October.
