Finance Director Mindy Kittay Presented With Certificate of RecognitionTHORNTON, Colo. –July 16, 2010–Rangeview Library District recently received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2010 Budget and Operating Plan from the Government Financial Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
“Our responsibility as a tax-funded entity is to be as thoughtful and responsible as possible with our funding,” says Rangeview Library District director Pam Sandlian Smith. “That same thoughtfulness has been applied by our finance department to how the budget is organized, making it easier for the public and our staff to understand how the money is spent. I applaud finance director Mindy Kittay and her team for their work on this project.”
Kittay has been granted a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation from GFAO for her work on the budget and helping the district to achieve the award.
“This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by your organization,” said Stephen Gauthier, director, Technical Services Center , GFAO. In order to receive the award, the district had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, which assess how well an organization’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, along with the criteria within each of those categories, to receive the award.
“Through Rangeview Library District’s example, we hope that other entities will be encouraged to achieve excellence in budgeting,” said Gauthier.
