Perlmutter Announces 7th CD Payback

Casework Nets 7th Congressional District Residents More Than $1.2 Million

Lakewood, CO– Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter announced the “7th Congressional District Payback.”

While representing the 7th Congressional District, Perlmutter and his office helped more than 2,200 people in the 7th Congressional District get paid more than $1.2 million owed to them by the federal government. This is money owed for issues like veterans’ benefits, mortgage foreclosures, tax refunds, Social Security and Medicare benefits.

“The best part of representing my neighbors in Congress is that I get to be the voice for each and every person in our district to make sure they get the benefits they earned and cut through the red tape of the federal government,” said Perlmutter. “The hardworking people in our neighborhoods worked hard for their money and benefits, and I want to make sure they get what they are owed and deserve.”

As David, a small business owner in Arvada, stated, “I am a partner in a small business consulting firm working exclusively with federal government agencies. I was having problems in collecting nearly $50,000 in back invoices owed my business by several federal government agencies. I called Congressman Ed Perlmutter’s office for help. In less than a week all old federal government invoices were brought current. Now I can focus my time on growing my business rather than attempting to collect overdue invoices from my government.”

Another constituent, Dale, contacted Perlmutter’s district office in Lakewood to get help with several months of back pay owed to him from the Social Security Administration. After two weeks of phone calls and meetings with the Social Security Administration, Perlmutter’s office helped the constituent get the more than $30,000 owed to him.
